RG3 Signed, Sealed, Delivered Tomorrow

“That is the one we always thought we would get from the beginning. Indy had made some speculation that they were going to go after Andrew [Luck] right from the beginning. We liked both quarterbacks, as we talked about before, from the beginning but we were hoping that we were going to get Robert.” - Washington Redskins head coach, Mike Shanahan

It's official folks. Robert Griffin, III is the new Washington Redskins quarterback!

Singing the Hail to the Redskins! official victory song after being selected last evening at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Griffin spoke as if he was truly elated to be a Washington Redskin.

"That’s how I felt. It felt that good.”

So, just how 'good' will Robert fit into the Skins scheme offensively? He gave an answer to that, too.

“Everybody wants to say that the schemes are different. Every scheme is trying to do the same thing, and that’s score points. So I think the one thing that I do need to work on and, it just comes with time and just being with the team, is the verbiage. The verbiage of the West Coast system is extremely long, but it’s something that I’ve been picking up on lately. And I know once I get in that huddle, I’ll be able to go out and have bumps in the road at the beginning of training camp, but once we get to the end, it’ll be like reading the back of my hand.”

After trying to fit the right QB into the Skins peg, rather you like to call it square or round, Griffin seems to be the right pick and applauds the organization for going a different route in choosing their quarterback.

"I’ve seen the Redskins over the years. I’ve seen the many quarterbacks that they’ve gone through, said Griffin, "and I’m glad that the organization and the coaching staff bought into drafting a younger quarterback, trying to make him their franchise quarterback and growing with him.”

Excellent, isn't he?  (And he even says "I've seen", instead of the proverbial, wrongly pronounced "I seen" used by others - athletes included - all too frequently. I soooo-ooo hate that!  People should know better).

But back to RG3.

The highly anticipated second pick of the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft is expected to make his appearance in front of the Washington fan base tomorrow afternoon at the Redskins Draft Party at FedEx Field.

If you haven't gotten your FREE Draft Party tickets, go to www.washingtonredskins.com.

Hail to the Redskins!  Welcome RG3.

We, of course, are watching.

Redskin Fans on RG3: What's Not to Like?

Take a look at this video.

Redskin fans, and fans of Robert Griffith, III, have already started welcoming him to Washington.

And guess what?

Griffin seems to be ecstatic about playing for the Redskins, too.  He's gone on record saying even though he's from Texas, he isn't a Dallas Cowboys fan, nor does he plan to root for Dallas.

"I'm a Redskin", the No. 2 NFL Draft pick said.  (Good choice of words, huh?)

In another interview, Griffin is asked when he knew the Redskins 'loved' him.

"Love is something that’s hard to define but it’s also defined with actions. So I didn’t know they loved me until they traded for me. They could say ‘we really like you. We really want you’. But how many times have you said that to a girl straight to her face and you didn’t love her? You have to show her that you love her. In this case I guess I was the girl and they showed me that they loved me. I’ll always work my butt off for them.”

Here's more of that interview between Griffin and Redskins beat reporter, Grant Paulsen.

Ah-hhhh.  It's Spring and the NFL Draft is upon us. And love is in the air.

What's not to like?

Just. One. More. Day. To. Go.

Just one more day to go folks before the OFFICIAL announcement that the Redskins will take Robert Griffin, the third, in the 2012 Draft as their OFFICIAL quarterback.

Where will you be on that glorious, magnanimous day?

Let the Endorsements Begin

Last week Robert Griffin, III inked an endorsement deal making him the new face of the Subway sandwich franchise, as its 'biggest fan'.  Look for Subway print ads in SI and USA Today, coming soon.
Update. The RG3 Subway bust, in all its glory, was unvealed on Monday.  Two things:  We're not seeing a particular likeness, and #2 we're not getting an 'I like it' expression on RG3's (real) face.
More of a 'I'm not feeling this, at all' look. What say you?  But there's this one, too.

Additionally, Subway is set to design an RG3 bust, inspired by its “Smokehouse BBQ Chicken” made famous in Manhattan, New York. We're sure he's working on those Subway commercials right now, even as we're writing this article.

Griffin joins other famous pro athletes on the Subway endorsement train.  Among them the NBA's Blake Griffin, former NFL star Michael Strahan, and Olympic gold winner Michael Phelps.  (I wonder what Jared thinks about being etched out in favor of professional athletes?)
Back to RG3, though.
Let the shoe endorsement begin.  Adidas has welcomed RG3 to the fold as 'the new face' of their brand.

In the commercial spot Adidas writes, 'welcome to the family, robert'.  (Yes, in all lower case).

Griffin is also the face of the new Adidas shoe, the adiZero 5 Star.

Says Griffin in the commercial, "The adidas adiZero is a light shoe." Calling it "a great shoe to play football in."

Watch the vid, and those legs, below.

Draft Time Decision

The Redskins enter the 2012 NFL Draft with a total of seven scheduled picks. The team’s first pick in the draft is at No. 2 overall, acquired in March via trade with the St. Louis Rams. Should the Redskins make a selection at No. 2, it will be the team’s highest selection since picking LB LaVar Arrington with the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Currently, the Redskins’ second selection is scheduled for the sixth pick of the third round (No. 69 overall). The Redskins have made two selections at No. 69 since the Common Draft era, including using the No. 69 overall pick in 1981 to select G Russ Grimm from Pittsburgh. Grimm ultimately became a member of Washington’s famed "Hogs" and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Two of the Redskins’ scheduled selections in 2012 are the function of trades involving quarterbacks. Washington holds the No. 109 overall pick, received as compensation in a trade for Jason Campbell. The team also holds the No. 173 pick from Minnesota in exchange for Donovan McNabb.

So You Don't Get It Twisted, Who Is RG3?

Robert Lee Griffin III (born February 12, 1990) is an American football quarterback, formerly with the Baylor Bears college football team, who announced that he would forgo his final year of college eligibility to enter the 2012 NFL Draft. Griffin, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a 3.67 grade point average in December 2010, began pursuing a masters in communications in 2011.

As a true freshman, he earned Big 12 Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year honors. As a redshirt junior, Griffin (popularly known as RG3) won the Heisman Trophy on December 10, 2011, becoming the first player from Baylor University to win the award. Griffin is expected to be selected by either the Indianapolis Colts or the Washington Redskins in April's NFL Draft.
