Draft Time Decision

The Redskins enter the 2012 NFL Draft with a total of seven scheduled picks. The team’s first pick in the draft is at No. 2 overall, acquired in March via trade with the St. Louis Rams. Should the Redskins make a selection at No. 2, it will be the team’s highest selection since picking LB LaVar Arrington with the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Currently, the Redskins’ second selection is scheduled for the sixth pick of the third round (No. 69 overall). The Redskins have made two selections at No. 69 since the Common Draft era, including using the No. 69 overall pick in 1981 to select G Russ Grimm from Pittsburgh. Grimm ultimately became a member of Washington’s famed "Hogs" and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Two of the Redskins’ scheduled selections in 2012 are the function of trades involving quarterbacks. Washington holds the No. 109 overall pick, received as compensation in a trade for Jason Campbell. The team also holds the No. 173 pick from Minnesota in exchange for Donovan McNabb.
